WW1 DERBY WAR HORSE - LTD EDITION OF 500
Limited Edition 500
An iconic commemorative limited edition paperweight which exemplifies a symbol of a War Horse from World War 1 (1914-1918)
Tien Manh Dinh has taken his design inspiration from the war era. A medal on the horses chest illustrates the 1914 Star decoration, a medal awarded to soldiers who saw active service in that year.
The decoration on the saddle is based on British artist, Norman Wilkinsons development of a dazzle camouflage pattern created in 1917 to protect ships from German U-boats in WW1. Included in the design is representation of the Red Cross and also the British Air Force symbol painted on British aeroplanes used in battle.
The harness carries the 1914-1918 dates and fittingly a cornfield filled with red poppies symbolising remembrance of those fallen on the battlefields. This flower has become synonymous with great loss of life in war, yet the poppy has a connection of being a memorial flower and a means of raising funds in support
