‘The Birth of Venus’, circa 1485, is one of Botticelli’s most celebrated paintings. This magnificent box marks the 500th anniversary of his death in 1510. Venus emerges from the sea on a shell wafted ashore by the wind gods amidst a shower of roses. The original is in The Uffizi Gallery, Florence.
